You Don’t Need to Have Everything Figured Out to Start Your VA Business

You don’t need to have everything figured out to get started. Even the most successful entrepreneurs started with a few key pieces in place and learned along the way.

"You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great." Zig Ziglar

Here’s the essentials you need to kickstart your journey:

Know the Services You Will Offer

Start by identifying what you’re passionate about and what you’re good at. Whether it’s social media management, email marketing, bookkeeping, or PA support, focus on a few core services that you can excel in. Remember, you can always expand your offerings as you grow. Here are a few steps to help you work out what services to offer:

  1. Assess Your Skills and Interests: Make a list of your skills and the tasks you enjoy doing. Think about your previous work experience, hobbies, and anything you’ve been trained in.

  2. Research the Market: Look at what services are in demand and what other VAs are offering. This can give you an idea of where there might be gaps in the market that you can fill.

  3. Consider Your Ideal Client: Think about who you want to work with. Are you targeting small businesses, entrepreneurs, or specific industries? Tailor your services to meet their needs.

  4. Start with a Few Services: Don’t try to do everything at once. Start with a few core services you’re confident in, and as you gain experience and client feedback, you can expand your offerings.

Set Your Rates with Confidence

Don’t undervalue yourself! Research industry standards, consider your experience, and set your rates accordingly. Be clear about your pricing from the get-go. Remember, clients are investing in your skills and expertise, so price yourself confidently and fairly. It’s essential to value your work appropriately and communicate that value to your clients.

Build Your Online Presence

Get yourself out there! Set up social media profiles and start networking. Showcase your skills, share your journey, and connect with potential clients. An engaging online presence can open doors and attract opportunities. Your online presence is your digital storefront, so make it inviting and professional. Find where your audience is—whether it’s LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, or another platform—and engage with them there. Consistently update your profiles and engage with your audience to build trust and credibility.

Embrace the Journey

Starting your VA business might feel like a leap, but with these basics in place, you’re ready to soar. Embrace the journey, learn as you go, and remember, every expert was once a beginner. It’s okay not to have all the answers right away. What’s important is to start, take that first step, and trust the process. You’ve got this!!
